Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean is offering an internship to students currently in their first or second year of master in curatorial studies, cultural studies, or an equivalent education. This internship is an opportunity to gain experience within the museum’s Department of Artistic Programmes and Content. Working alongside the curator, you will be part of the team responsible for the performance programme and public programmes within one of the most dynamic contemporary art museums in Europe.

Mission
Mentored by the Curator of Performance and Public Programmes, this internship offers the opportunity to closely follow the development and delivery of performances, exhibitions and special projects. This internship will be an opportunity to deepen your practical and theoretical knowledge of the art world and of the role of curator within a museum of contemporary art. You will gain insight about the process of performance and exhibition-making, benefit from a work environment that facilitates learning and exchange and gain valuable professional experience for the development of your career in the field of contemporary art.

Under the supervision of the Curator of Performance and Public Programmes and in close collaboration with the Publics Department, you will support the development and delivery of the museum’s artistic programme which includes performance, public programmes and special projects. You will work closely with the museum’s teams of Registrars, Technicians and Public Engagement and alongside other departments and external partners, including artists and galleries.

Candidates should be keen to learn with an enthusiastic, ‘can do’ approach. You should be committed to working hard and have excellent attention to detail. Activities and tasks

  • Research
  • Preparing interpretative texts
  • Supporting the development of exhibition, performance and special projects’ checklists and plans
  • Liaising with artists, galleries, lenders, partner institutions, etc.
  • Preparing and attending meetings with various members of staff
  • Preparing dossiers and related presentations
  • Supporting the preparation, detailed planning and delivery of performance and public programmes events

Profile

  • Graduate student in the fields of curatorial studies, art history, fine arts, dance, cultural studies or related field
  • Passionate about contemporary art and culture
  • Fluency in French and English. A working knowledge of German or Luxembourgish is also an advantage
