Employer: Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean
Department: Artistic Programmes & Content
Reporting to: Curator, Head of Collection
Contract: CDD Full time / 1 year fixed term contract

Mudam Luxembourg is seeking a specialist in contemporary art with proven research skills to join the museum as Curatorial Fellow. Working as part of the curatorial team, the role is dedicated to the development of the collection through the museum’s partnership with the international law firm, Allen & Overy.

It is Mudam’s ambition to serve as a reference museum for contemporary art and to be an iconic museum for Luxembourg in terms of artistic and cultural excellence. Through the activities it presents and the manner in which it operates, Mudam promotes creativity, visionary thinking, openness and cultural participation for all. Like Luxembourg itself, Mudam is situated in Europe but has a global and outward-looking vision. Mudam is committed to a more inclusive, more tolerant and more responsible world in which museums play a leading role in the transmission of our cultural heritage to future generations. To collect, conserve and present the most relevant contemporary art of our time and make it accessible to a wide audience. Through its exhibitions, publications, and artistic and educational programmes, Mudam fosters research and dialogue while giving special attention to the changing nature of art and its production across the world.

The partnership between Mudam and Allen & Overy was first established in 2013 and in the first three years supported a series of donations to Mudam’s collection focusing exclusively on artists working in the moving image. Since 2019, this collaboration has been strengthened with increased support for acquisitions and the creation of a Curatorial Fellowship to extend this focus to emerging artists working with new and emerging technologies including digital media. Reporting to the Curator, Head of Collection and working closely with the collection, registrar and programming teams, the Curatorial Fellow contributes to all aspects of the acquisition process, researching and developing proposals and presentations for future acquisitions and acting as Allen & Overy’s liaison in Mudam’s collection team. In contributing to the development of the collection they will work collaboratively with colleagues across the museum in addition to building upon an extensive network of contacts internationally.

Mudam seeks a bright and motivated individual with proven writing and research skills. They will be in touch with developments globally, with a strong knowledge of contemporary art and a specialist interest in the impact of recent and emerging technologies on contemporary practice. They will have good analytical and presentation skills, and be an excellent communicator and team-player able to contribute to the work and activities of Mudam.
