Appel à candidatures : Green. A Choice Not Just A Color

Penser les questions environnementales et l'impact de l’être humain sur la nature ne signifie pas seulement créer des œuvres d'art dénonçant par exemple la surconsommation ou sensibilisant plus globalement par leur contenu à ces thématiques. Il est tout aussi important de réfléchir à l’aspect environnemental dans le processus même de création, la production, la conservation, l'expédition… mais aussi l'exposition et la présentation des productions artistiques.

neimënster est à la recherche d'un projet artistique, toutes disciplines confondes, prêt à être conçu et développé selon une approche durable, participative et respectueuse de l'environnement en coopération avec CELL (Citizens for Ecological Learning & Living) Luxembourg, une association écologique et citoyenne dont la mission est d’imaginer et de mettre en oeuvre des solutions concrètes face à la crise climatique et aux enjeux sociaux qui en découlent ( https://www.cell.lu/ ).

Le projet sélectionné bénéficiera de l’expertise du CELL au cours d’une journée d’immersion dans le cadre de la résidence de recherche à neimënster, afin de penser une approche globale, dès les premières étapes de la conception et de la création artistique, et de trouver des solutions pratiques et efficientes permettant une réduction de l’empreinte carbone et incluant une dimension participative de la création et de sa diffusion.

Un projet réussi devra donc avoir à l'esprit la durabilité et les solutions écologiques dès sa conception, être ouvert à la contribution d'experts environnementaux et encourager les approches sociales et collaboratives. La création devra s’inscrire dans une démarche éthique qui respecte les limites planétaires (par exemple : créer sans rien acheter de neuf = uniquement avec des matériaux recyclés ou de récupération…) et faire l’objet d’un carnet de bord permettant de partager les acquis de cette expérimentation.

Thinking about environmental issues and the impact of human beings on nature does not only mean creating works of art that denounce, for example, overconsumption or more generally raise awareness on these issues through their content. It is just as important to reflect on the environmental aspect in the very process of creation, production, conservation, shipping... as well as the exhibition and presentation of artistic productions.

neimënster is looking for an artistic project, across all disciplines, ready to be conceived and developed with a sustainable, participatory, and environmentally-friendly approach, in cooperation with CELL (Citizens for Ecological Learning & Living) Luxembourg, an ecological and citizen association whose mission is to imagine and implement concrete solutions in response to the climate crisis and its social implications (https://www.cell.lu/).

The selected project will benefit from CELL's expertise during an immersion day as part of the research residency at neimënster, in order to think about a holistic approach from the earliest stages of design and artistic creation and find practical and efficient solutions that reduce carbon footprint and include a participatory dimension in the creation and dissemination of the work.

A successful project should therefore keep sustainability and ecological solutions in mind from its inception, be open to the contribution of environmental experts, and encourage social and collaborative approaches. The creation should follow an ethical approach that respects planetary boundaries (e.g., creating without buying anything new = only using recycled or reclaimed materials…) and result in a logbook to share the insights gained from this experimentation.

Grant and support:

- Grant of 2000€ per artist (with a maximum of 6000€ regardless of the number of artists involved)

- Provision of studio, and accommodation if required.
