Masterclass with kabinet k

“We are looking for ways to bring a body back to its most essential movement-language and see what this communicates.”

For this 6th edition of Labo Pro, the Rotondes has invited the Belgian choreographers Joke Laureyns and Kwint Manshoven from kabinet k. The duo will use their personal work methods, encouraging participants to reinstate the body in the heart of choreographic language. It is a physical, simple and pure language that aims to go to the essence and integrate notions of pleasure and sharing.

The masterclass is designed for artists working in the field of performing arts, who create with or for children and youngsters (mainly dancers and choreographers as well as anyone interested in movement and motion).

kabinet k

Joke Laureyns and Kwint Manshoven are both choreographers, but their backgrounds are in philosophy and design respectively. In kabinet k they focus on dance productions with both professional dancers and children on the stage. Their dance is based on actual everyday actions and minor gestures interwoven with elements of play. More information here.

Rotondes

Rotondes is a one-of-a-kind venue consisting of two abandoned railway roundhouses. The cultural centre hosts events that range from performing to visual arts, as well as numerous conferences, group projects and workshops for all ages. The Labo Pro masterclass encourages encounters and exchanges between artists who have a specific interest in working for and with young audiences. Rotondes collaborates with its international ASSITEJ partners to support the participation of several young foreign artists. The previous Labo Pro were held by the artists Gregory Caers (BE), Johan de Smet (BE), Ania Michaelis (DE), Kjell Moberg (NO) and Agnès Limbos (BE).
